Our Team

Thamra is a team dedicated to agricultural development, community building, and the safety and well-being of all of Gaza's residents. Founded by Leena Al-Madhoun, a 22-year-old psychology student and photographer. Leena works with UNRWA shelter schools in Beit Lahia, providing critical support to thousands of children affected by ongoing challenges. Balancing her studies, she captures the beauty and struggles of her community through photography, advocating for those who cannot speak for themselves.

Leena Al-Madhoun

22 years old – Founder & Project Coordinator

Leena is the heart behind Thamra. As founder and project coordinator, she leads both relief and agricultural initiatives across Gaza, ensuring that every effort is rooted in care for the land and the community. Her leadership blends determination with compassion, keeping the team united through even the darkest days.

"I saw in Thamra a small dream that grows bigger every day. My duty to my family in Gaza is what drives me to continue and work with all my energy from the beginning until now."

Ahmed Al-Louh

25 years old – Agricultural Engineer

Ahmed brings technical expertise and deep knowledge of the land to Thamra. As an agricultural engineer, he provides farmers with guidance on improving soil quality, enhancing production, and restoring damaged crops. His work is more than technical—it’s an act of defiance against destruction and a way to nourish both people and land. Ahmed believes that every plant grown is a promise for the future and a refusal to let Gaza’s agricultural heritage disappear.

"I believe that agriculture is our path toward resilience, and every plant we grow is a message of life in the face of siege."

Yousef Al-Madhoun

18 years old – Field Team Member

Yousef has been part of Thamra since its earliest days, dedicating himself tirelessly to on-the-ground efforts. Whether delivering food, helping prepare gardens, or assisting in emergency responses, Yousef embodies the spirit of community care. Despite his young age, his commitment reflects deep maturity and a powerful sense of duty to his people. His hands-on work keeps Thamra connected to the families it serves.

"I feel proud with every hour of work, because it means a hand extended to my family in a time of need."

Maysara Bashir

23 years old – Field Photographer

Maysara is Thamra’s visual storyteller. As the team’s field photographer, he documents relief efforts, agricultural projects, and the everyday strength of Gaza’s people. His photographs are more than images—they’re bridges, carrying voices, memories, and moments of hope to the world outside. Maysara is intentional with every frame, knowing that an honest picture can speak louder than words and preserve truths that must not be forgotten.

"I believe that the honest picture can convey the voice and pain of our people to the world, and I make sure of this in every shot I take with Thamra."

Noura Al-Qasasiya

25 years old – Artist, Fashion Designer & Volunteer

Noura brings creativity and color to Thamra’s work. As an artist and fashion designer, she volunteers her skills to lead community art projects, infuse cultural heritage into Thamra’s activities, and create spaces for beauty even amid destruction. Her presence reminds everyone that art and land are intertwined—that beauty and hope can survive, even in the harshest conditions. Noura’s commitment to volunteering shows her belief that building a better future is both practical and poetic.

"I believe the earth can give us life despite all the death, and that art and volunteer work can sow hope in the harshest circumstances."

Palestinian farmers have been historically targeted by the occupation with heavy restrictions to control the region’s food supply. They now suffer alongside their communities from the effects of displacement, systematic starvation, and violent attacks.
