Support Thamra:

Cultivating Resilience in Gaza

A Palestinian organization fostering food sovereignty. Working to achieve self-sufficiency and restore our land.

About Thamra

Thamra, meaning "fruit" in Arabic, is a Palestinian initiative established in 2024 with deep roots in the land and communities of Gaza. The project addresses food insecurity and promotes resilience through sustainable agricultural practices and community-driven efforts.

Our Mission

Thamra is committed to fostering food sovereignty and self-sufficiency in Gaza. By revitalizing agricultural traditions and empowering communities, we aim to restore our land and ensure access to nutritious food for all.

Our Team

Our dedicated team includes individuals passionate about agriculture, community development, and the well-being of Gaza's residents. Among them is Leena Almadhoun, a 21-year-old psychology student and photographer. Leena works with UNRWA shelter schools in Beit Lahia, providing critical support to thousands of children affected by ongoing challenges. Balancing her studies, she captures the beauty and struggles of her community through photography, advocating for those who cannot speak for themselves.

Our work

At Thamra, we focus on three key areas to uplift our community:

  • Ensuring that the people of Gaza have access to fresh vegetables and fruits, contributing to the overall health and nutrition of our communities.

  • Creating urban gardens in homes—on balconies, in gardens, or atop rooftops—to empower families to grow their own food, promoting sustainability and self-reliance.

  •  Repairing and restoring water wells in neighborhoods throughout Gaza to ensure communities have access to this vital resource.

We invite you to support a vital agricultural project that is bringing life back to the land, following the destruction of the occupation and the famine its people are enduring.

With this project, we aim to distribute seedlings to families and to encourage their cultivation as a source of livelihood and renewed hope for life. Every donation, no matter how small, helps to restore greenery and growth to this resilient land.
